I’ve only been writing poetry since 2025, but in that short time I’ve found a few outstanding resources:
Rattle Magazine: Tim Green and Katie Dozier do so much for poetry, from curating an excellent journal to hosting weekly interviews with poets (Rattlecast), Critique of the Week, the Ekphrastic Challenge, and Poets Respond. Many of these interactive sessions are recorded and available online.
ONE ART: Mark Danowsky is an outstanding editor who runs a fantastic journal. There’s also a very active community of poets around ONE ART, with workshops and monthly readings.
Monterey Bay Poetry Consortium: If you’re local (or “adopted,” like I am), Monterey has an incredibly vibrant poetry community. There are monthly readings at the Pacific Grove Public Library, along with a wide range of events during Poetry Month (April).
